Windows 30 Day Free Trial Instructions

1. Download and run the setup file as an administrator.
2. Follow the instructions on the installation wizard to complete installation.
3. When finished, a new icon BACKITUP Online will be installed to the system tray (near the clock) and BACKITUP Online will be launched automatically.
4. If prompted for the BACKITUP Online server name in the Address field enter http://backup.virtualtin.com and select the Next button.
5. If you are using a proxy server to access the internet, please fill in the Proxy setting section and select the Next button.
6. To create your new backup account and register for a 30 day free trial account, following these steps:

  • Enter the Login Name, Password and Confirm Password of your choice.
  • Enter your Email in the text field provided.
  • You should now be logged onto the backup server already (if the Login Name of your choice is already taken by another user, try a different login name).
  • You will now be guided to create a backup set, enter a backup set name of your choice in the Name field, choose the type of backup set in the Type field and then select Next.
  • Select the files that you want to backup and press the Next button.
  • Select the Properties button to review or make changes to the default backup schedule setting and then select the Next button. (You can add multiple backup schedules to a backup set by selecting the Add button and please select the “Run scheduled backup on this computer”).
  • Setup the encryption setting for your backup set (if you are unsure about encryption, just accept the default values here).
  • Select the OK button.

7. The scheduled backup will now run automatically if you leave your computer on.To run a backup immediately, click the Backup button on the left panel, select the backup set and press OK button.
8. Setup is now complete.

Windows Existing Customer Instructions

1. Download and run the setup file as an administrator.

5. Double click the desktop BACKITUP Online icon to start.
6. You may be prompted to enter the backup server name in the Address field (http://backup.virtualtin.com) and select the Next button.
7. If you are using a proxy server to access the internet, please fill in the Proxy setting section and select the Next button.
8. Register your trial user by the following steps

  • Enter the Login Name, Password and Confirm Password of your choice.
  • Enter your Email in the text field provided.
  • Select the Submit button.
  • You should be logged to the backup server already (if the Login Name of your choice is already taken by another user, try a different login name).

9. As this is your first time logging into the server, you will be guided to create a backup set:

  • Enter a backup set name of your choice in the Name field, choose the type of backup set in the Type field and then select Next button.
  • Select the files that you want to backup and select the Next button.
  • Select the Properties button to review or make changes to the default backup schedule setting and then select the Next button. (please note that you can add multiple backup schedules to a backup set by selecting the Add button).

5. Create a symbolic link for JRE.
ln -s /usr/java /usr/local/obm/jvm
6. Set the JAVA_HOME environment variable.
JAVA_HOME=/usr/java; export JAVA_HOME
7. Install BACKITUP.
./bin/install.sh >install.log
All installation information can be found in the file "install.log"
